A Guide to the New Version of Landlord Vision for Existing Customers

By 3 min read • July 14, 2023

Over the last few months, you may have seen us hinting at a large project going on at Landlord Vision, but now we’ve finally started talking about it out loud! We’ve got a new version of Landlord Vision. So, we’d like to take this opportunity to tell you more about the new version and what that means for you as an existing customer.

It’s Not an Update or an Upgrade

First things first. The new version is a totally new product not an update to the existing version. You won’t notice your software suddenly change or automatically update. If you want to move from the existing version to the new version you’ll be moving from one product to another.

Can You Migrate From Legacy Landlord Vision to New Landlord Vision?

The new Landlord Vision software has been built using different technology. When we built Landlord Vision 10 years ago, things were a lot different. Technology has changed and to stay up to date, we’ve changed with it. Because the technologies are different it makes it difficult to migrate data from one to the other. It’s kind of like trying to put triangular pegs into circular holes.

At the moment we’re not ready to migrate existing customers. The software is still new, it doesn’t contain all the features that the legacy version contains, and it will take a while to get there. However, once the new version is on par with the legacy version, we’re committed to building a migration tool that aims to get as much of your data as possible from one version to the other.

You can learn more about migration from our migration page.

You Can Still Try New Landlord Vision

If you want to try the new software, you’re more than welcome to do so. Whether you’re an existing Landlord Vison customer or not. However, if you want to start using the new version straight away you’ll have to manually move your data over.

Legacy Landlord Vision Isn’t Going Anywhere

When we built Landlord Vision ten years ago it was to replace Landlords Property Manager (LPM). This was our first property management software. It wasn’t cloud-based and it was built on old tech. So, Landlord Vision came about to bring things up to date. Not everyone wanted to migrate from LPM. While we don’t actively market LPM these days, it still exists and still has many happy customers. We didn’t discontinue it, we continue to support those customers and maintain the software. We envisage the same thing happening with Landlord Vision.

Don’t Worry Your Data is Safe, Your Software is Safe and It Always Will be

Our commitment to you will not change. Our customers come first and we’re here to support you in whatever you want to do.

If you want to use the new version of Landlord Vision, we’ll happily support you in doing so, we’ll even give you free access to the legacy version while you move your data over.

If you want to migrate to the new version when there’s a tool to help you do that, great, we’ll wait with you.

If you don’t like the sound of it at all and just want to keep using Landlord Vision that’s also no problem, you’ll still get all the help and support you’re used to for years to come.

We hope that you’re excited to embark on this next part of our journey with us, as always we’re grateful to have you along.

We hope that this has helped to answer some of your questions.
