According to research carried out by a leading insurer, being nice to tenants can pay dividends in the long run. So what is the definition of ‘being nice’?

more than half helped out with DIY and just over a quarter gave a tenant a bottle of wine. As a result of these random acts of kindness nearly three-quarters of tenants questioned said they subsequently felt more positive about their landlord and were more likely to stay for longer in the property, compared to just over half of tenants who didn’t receive any special help or gifts.
How to Be Nice
It pays to work hard at developing a good relationship with your tenants. Being thoughtful and offering up home grown vegetables, free-range eggs from your chickens, or a small gift for a tenant’s kids at Christmas will all go a long way towards helping to cultivate a good working relationship.
