scheme and is being made available to councils and Registered Social Landlords (RSLs). Each applicant will be able to claim up to £250k and the money can be used to pay for a variety of energy saving improvements.

There are many eligible energy saving improvements that can be made with the funding on offer. These include:

• boiler upgrades;
• cavity wall insulation;
• loft insulation;
• solid wall insulation; and
• double/triple glazing.

Other ‘green’ areas where the money can be spent include:

• secondary glazing;
• assisted electric storage heating;
• flue gas heat recovery systems;
• hot water tank insulation; and
• waste water heat recovery.

The SFHA Welcomes the Scheme
The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) is welcoming the scheme:

“While our members have the most energy efficient homes in Scotland, recent above inflation increases in domestic energy prices means that investment in measures that provide affordable warmth for tenants is a priority, “ says David Stewart, Policy Manager of the SFHA.

“The announcement of this fund is particularly welcome as it will support investment in the more expensive measures necessary to improve hard to treat homes, such as solid wall insulation.”

The money is available on a first come/first served basis and applicants must bid for the cash. Applications for a share of the funding are available from here.
