Why download the guide to pets in rental properties?

According to a government survey, in 2020 only 7% of landlords advertised their properties as pet friendly. Excluding pets severely reduces a landlords potential pool of tenants when getting a property let. So we created this guide to help landlords understand if opening their lets up to pets is a viable strategy for their business.

This guide is for landlords who don't accept pets in their rental properties or for those who are considering accepting pets in their rental properties. Letting agents wishing to convince landlords to accept pets may also find helpful pointers in this guide.

The guide to pets in rental properties isn't designed to tell you explicitly that you must accept pets, instead it looks at the argument for and against and provides work arounds for objections you may have about renting to tenants with pets. In the guide you'll find:

  1. How to deal with wanting extra security deposits for pets
  2. The legal stance on letting to tenants with pets
  3. The arguments for and against letting to tenants with pets
  4. Whether your property is suitable for pets
  5. How to deal with pets in tenancy agreements
  6. An evaluation of potential pet related issues in rental properties and how to deal with them
  7. Cleaning at the end of a tenancy
  8. And much more
